After decades in active use, the boat was extensively restored by Horst "Hotta" Wagner and was launched for the second time in 1981 - under a new name: "Swart Johann", as a tribute to the legendary Stralsund Zeesfischer Johann Krüger (1886-1955). He was not only an imposing figure in black trousers, vest and bowler hat, but also a gifted sailor whose personality, humor and craftsmanship live on in numerous stories to this day.
The black-painted hull, the traditional design and the historical context make the "Swart Johann" a truly unique piece - a traveling monument to North German fishing culture.
