The boat was originally built in Trosa, Sweden between 1968 and 1973 and sailed by the designer himself for 25 years before switching to a motorboat. Since then, Pelican II has had 3 owners including the current owner who has looked after the boat since 2003, where it has been used for family summer cruises along the Scandinavian coast and weekend trips.

Pelican II is a comfortable 40-foot ketch that with its solid construction of plywood on galvanized iron frames and a 2,000 kg lead keel, this Bermuda-built boat is stable, seaworthy and unsinkable thanks to built-in buoyancy aids.

For the past 20 years, Pelican II has sailed on the Swedish west coast, in the Oslo Fjord, via the Göta Canal to the Swedish east coast and made several trips to Bornholm and the Blekinge archipelago.

The boat has been on land every winter, covered and regularly maintained with bottom painting, polishing and spring cleaning from 2003 to 2024. It is in excellent condition and ready for new adventures.
