The sailing ship FREM was built in 1939 at Nykøbing Mors Shipyard, and the proud old craftsmanship traditions have proven their worth. After more than 80 years, the ship is still sailing, in recent years with private events, but the sailing ship FREM was originally built for cargo shipping in Nordic waters. Over the years, the ship has sailed countless freights between Denmark, Germany, Norway, Sweden and further into the Baltic Sea. Below deck is a rare pocket of time with the scent of the durable woodwork, which also shows clear traces of chains and barrels from the cargo of the past. In 1995, FREM was named by the Ministry of Culture as one of the country's irreplaceable maritime cultural treasures.

At just under 27 meters long and with 450 m² of sail, the beautiful, historic sailing ship is one of Scandinavia's largest wooden ships still sailing. That's why the sailing ship FREM is also suitable for both large and small parties, with a capacity of up to 40 people.

In shipping terminology, the FREM is classified as a galleass, which refers to the cross between the galleon and galley ship types, both of which had several rows of oars and two masts with Latin sails. The galleass is characterized as a two-masted sailing ship with a full hull like a hunting ship and rigged with gaff sails. The forward mast, the mainmast, is higher than the aft mast, the mizzen. The galley is often confused with the more familiar schooner. The most obvious difference is that the aft mast is lower than the main mast, which is the opposite on the schooner, and that the galley's masts are pole masts, i.e. they are made in one piece.
